Andrew Mark Jones is an independent biblical researcher and software developer who has dedicated over 20 years to the investigation of historical sites across Turkey and the Middle East. Transitioning his technical expertise from a career in software development to the field of archaeological research, Jones specializes in applying advanced geophysical technologies to analyze ancient formations. For the last decade, he has been a leading figure in the study of the Durupinar boat-shaped formation, spearheading the site's most comprehensive 2019 GPR and LiDAR surveys.
His data-driven approach includes coordinating large-scale 2024 soil surveys with international scientists. The 2019 GPR and border survey results he presented at the different international symposiums on Mount Ararat and Noah’s Ark at the local Agri University. Jones also manages the site’s visitor center with local partners and continues to give lectures to tour groups that come to the site.
